Shock and sorrow have engulfed Orwaki Village in North Mugirango, Nyamira County, after a gruesome domestic incident in which a 20-year-old man allegedly murdered his father before setting his body ablaze.
The suspect, Frankline Ouru, is reported to have had a heated argument with his father, 62-year-old Julius Ouru, before attacking him with an axe.
According to the suspect’s mother, Hellen Kemuma, Frankline forced her and his siblings out of their home moments before launching the brutal assault.
“He was angry and told us to leave the house. Shortly after, we heard screams and saw smoke,” Kemuma recounted, visibly shaken.
The suspect then allegedly set his father’s body on fire inside the family home. The incident has left the village in shock, with family members and neighbors describing Frankline as a violent and troubled individual.
Disturbingly, this is not the first time Frankline has been linked to a violent act. In February, he was accused of assaulting and causing the death of his elder brother, Douglas Ouru.
Despite that incident, no formal charges were brought against him at the time, and the family says they have since lived in fear due to his continued threats and aggression.
The body of Julius Ouru was transferred to the Ibara Hospital mortuary in Kebirigo, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Frankline Ouru has been arrested and is currently being held at Ekerenyo Police Station as investigations into the horrific crime continue. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued swiftly and thoroughly.
