Comedian Terence Creative has apologized in public to the people of Kisii over a social media joke about politics that went viral and elicited mixed reactions online. The comedian had earlier posted a light-hearted message saying,

“Nadhani huyo Mkisii kachukua kiti 2027, sasa nipangie hiyo Cabinet ????”

The post quickly went viral, with some fans finding it hilarious and very relatable, while others found it insensitive and stereotypical. The funny idea of a “cabinet” was meant as satire, but instead, it caused controversy.

Realizing that the joke may have offended some people, Terence took to his social media pages and apologized publicly for it.”My apologies to the Kisii community in general about a previous post that had been posted on my Facebook page. Naomba msamaha sana, I didn’t mean any harm. Nawapenda sana na nawaheshimu pamoja na viongozi wenu,” he wrote.

He further said that this had touched his heart, adding:“Aki nimeshindwa kulala, sitalala hadi mnisamehe.”

His comment section was flooded by fans with mixed reactions; some praised him for taking responsibility, while others encouraged him not to be too hard on himself.

Many noted that comedy often treads a thin line between humor and sensitivity, and even the most well-intentioned jokes can sometimes be misconstrued.

Terence is known for his viral Kamami and Mkurugenzi skits, and has made a name for himself in turning day-to-day Kenyan realities into laughter.
