Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has announced that the government will translate information on Social Health Authority benefits into local languages to ensure more Kenyans understand what they’re entitled to under the Taifa Care programme.
Speaking at a public event at KCB Grounds in Kajiado County, Duale said this move is part of efforts to reach every household and speed up registration for the Social Health Authority.
“When people clearly understand the benefits, they are more likely to sign up. That’s how we move closer to achieving Universal Health Coverage,” he said.
The CS also revealed plans to improve services in public hospitals by expanding the National Equipment Service Program, aimed at giving more Kenyans access to specialist care.
He applauded Kajiado County for enrolling over 430,000 residents about 39% of its population into the health scheme and urged more people to register.
Duale confirmed that 35 health facilities had recently been shut down after being caught overcharging patients and double-billing SHA.
He encouraged Kenyans to report such cases through SHA hotline, 147 stating that public trust depends on fairness and transparency in healthcare delivery.
