Boyd Were, son of the slain Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, has officially declared his intention to succeed his father in the upcoming by-election.

In a statement released on Friday, May 16, Boyd expressed his desire to continue the legacy and development work his father began before he was gunned down in Nairobi.

“Dear Kasipul Constituents, I humbly step forward to continue the development journey my father began. His vision for a better Kasipul remains alive in me, and I am committed to seeing every project he initiated completed. With your full support, we will walk this journey together, steadfast and united, until the dream is fully realised,” said Boyd.

Should he be elected, Boyd pledged to prioritise education, economic empowerment, and youth initiatives-key areas his late father championed.

Boyd’s announcement follows calls from several ODM-affiliated politicians urging the party to grant him a direct nomination to succeed his late father.
