Former Bomachoge Chache Member of Parliament Simon Ogari Arama is dead.

Arama breathed his last on Tuesday, September 10, after a long battle with illness at his home in Karen, Nairobi.

The veteran politician, who also served as Transport Assistant Minister in the late president Mwai Kibaki’s government, died aged 68.

A close ally of former premier Raila Odinga, Arama vied for the Bomachoge Chache parliamentary seat on ODM and served in parliament between 2008 and 2017.

In her tribute, nominated senator Esther Okenyuri described Arama as a leader who served his constituents with commitment and dedication.

"He was a remarkable leader who served his constituents with commitment and dedication. He touched many hearts throughout his life leading with profound humility. His legacy will remain with us for a long time to come. It has been my honour and good fortune to have known him."

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka described him as a polite, kind and selfless man who was simple to a fault.
