National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) officials on Thursday arrested a bartender at Jey Jey Club in Kangemi for selling assorted alcoholic brands without a valid permit.
This is after NACADA teams conducted an operation in Kangemi following complaints from kangemi residents.The operation targeted three bars operating within the Kihumbuini area and situated next to Kihumbuini Primary School.
During the operation, an outlet the Club was found to be operating without required licenses and offering for sale products with an alleged suspended KEBS permit.Twenty-six pieces of assorted liquor brands with suspended permits were also picked from the bar.
The female bartender operating the club was taken to Jogoo Road Police Station, awaiting further processing and arraignment in court. NACADA appealed to Kenyans to continue sharing information that would aid in their operations. Launched in 2001, NACADA aims to reduce the demand for alcohol and drugs by sensitising the public and providing rehabilitation services.
NACADA recommended enhanced collaboration between national and county governments to scale up efforts in controlling the production, distribution, sale and consumption of illicit brews.
