A man was fatally stabbed in the early hours of January 5 after allegedly breaking into a woman’s house in Kerwa Town, Kiambu County.

According to police, the woman reported that the intruder forcefully entered her home, leading to a confrontation that escalated into violence. She stated that she was asleep when she heard a disturbance in the sitting room. Upon confronting the man, she used a kitchen knife in self-defense, resulting in his fatal injuries.

The man’s body was discovered inside the house with stab wounds to the chest. Police recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife, which has been secured as evidence.

Kiambu County Police Commander Michael Muchiri confirmed that investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We are gathering all the necessary information to determine the sequence of events,” said Muchiri.

The woman has been questioned by police to shed light on the events that led to the stabbing.

The deceased’s body has been moved to the mortuary, where it will undergo an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are working to piece together the evidence, including the woman’s account, to determine whether the case will proceed as an act of self-defense or if other charges will be considered.
