President William Ruto has announced the rollout of a comprehensive infrastructure development plan aimed at transforming Nairobi into a leading global hub for trade, investment, and mobility.

Speaking during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Bridge Savannah–Stage 17–Masimba Road, which cuts across Embakasi Central and Embakasi East constituencies, President Ruto said the initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernise the capital city.

“We have rolled out a comprehensive plan that will change the face of Nairobi to make it a top global hub,” he said.

In the first phase of the plan, the government is constructing at least 70 kilometres of new and upgraded roads within the city.

The move is expected to ease traffic congestion, enhance trade logistics, and stimulate economic growth across key sectors.

The president emphasized that improved infrastructure is central to his administration’s urban transformation agenda, which prioritises efficient transportation networks and inclusive development.

The rehabilitated road is among several strategic corridors being upgraded to improve connectivity in densely populated areas, reduce commuting time, and create employment opportunities during and after construction.
