President William Ruto has nominated Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku as the new Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes, replacing Justin Muturi, who has been relieved of his duties.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in a statement by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei, who emphasized that the changes would strengthen the Executive and enhance the government’s ability to drive Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.

At 45 years old, Geoffrey Ruku is a close political ally of President Ruto. He won the Mbeere North parliamentary seat on a Democratic Party (DP) ticket in the 2022 general election, securing 17,069 votes to defeat three other candidates.

His political journey began in 2013 when he unsuccessfully contested for the Mbeere North parliamentary seat, losing to Muriuki Njagagua.

In 2017, he attempted to secure the Embu Senate seat under the Jubilee Party but was defeated by Njeru Ndigwa.

Beyond politics, Ruku is the founding director of Climate Pal Ltd, a company focused on carbon emissions reduction projects in Kenya.
