President William Ruto has reiterated his government’s commitment to eradicating slums in Nairobi through the Affordable Housing Program.

The Head of State stated that informal settlements in Lang’ata and Kibra would be transformed into modern estates offering decent living conditions for residents.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Southlands Lang’ata Affordable Housing Project – Lot 5 in Mugumoini, Lang’ata Constituency, Ruto emphasized that the initiative aligns with his administration’s vision of providing quality and affordable housing for all Kenyans.

“Our affordable housing projects will eradicate slums in Lang’ata and Kibra, turning them into estates that provide decent living conditions to people,” he stated.

The Southlands project will feature 60 residential blocks comprising 15,960 housing units, two community centers, and a primary school.

The initiative is expected to enhance urban development while creating job opportunities for thousands of Kenyans.

The government has been pushing its Affordable Housing Program as a key pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, aiming to improve livelihoods and reduce the housing deficit in the country.
