Omanyala Secures Third Place at ASA Grand Prix 1 in Pretoria

Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala finished third at the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Grand Prix I at Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday evening.

Omanyala completed the men’s 100m race in 10.22 seconds, with Letebele Karabo claiming victory at 10.19 seconds.

In a tightly contested race, local athlete Erasmus Emile also clocked 10.19, finishing just behind Karabo in second place.

Kenyan sprinter Mark Otieno narrowly missed out on a podium spot, finishing fourth with a time of 10.39. Both Omanyala and Otieno were competing in their first international races of the year.

Omanyala’s previous international race was in September of last year, where he clocked 10.07 to win the men’s 100m in Brussels.

Otieno’s last competition abroad was in August, at the Wieslaw Maniak Memorial in Poland, where he finished third with a time of 10.60.
