President William Ruto has officially launched the construction of a modern KSh325 million market in Othaya Town, Nyeri County.
The new facility will feature 1,000 stalls, cold rooms, and ICT hubs, and is expected to transform trade and business in the area.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, President Ruto said the market is part of his government’s efforts to empower small-scale traders and boost local economies.
“At Othaya Town, laid the foundation for the construction of KSh325 million modern market, which will comprise 1,000 stalls, cold rooms, and ICT hubs.,” said the President.
He also used the opportunity to address residents on various development programmes underway in the region and assured them of the government’s continued commitment to improving infrastructure and service delivery.
The President’s visit drew hundreds of residents and traders who welcomed the project, saying it will enhance trade and create job opportunities in Othaya and surrounding areas.
