President William Ruto has said the government is constructing 20,000 housing units for police officers across the country as part of efforts to improve their living conditions.
Ruto said the programme is intended to ensure police officers have access to decent and dignified homes.
“We are addressing the housing needs of our police officers by constructing 20,000 housing units across the country to ensure they live in decent and dignified homes,” Ruto said.
The President also announced a major investment in Kisumu County under the government’s Affordable Housing Programme.
“For the people of Kisumu County, we are investing KSh44 billion under the Affordable Housing Programme, building 12,000 housing units, 20 modern markets and student hostels with a capacity of accommodating 12,000 beds,” he said.
The housing programme is part of the government’s broader affordable housing agenda, with Kisumu among the counties targeted for housing developments. The Presidency previously said 10,000 housing units were planned for Kisumu County under the programme.
