President William Ruto is committed to improving the living conditions of police officers in Kenya.
Speaking during the launch of the National Police Service and State Department for Correctional Service Strategic Plan for 2023-2027, President Ruto announced the construction of 582 housing units meant for police officers had been completed.
The head of state said another 1,000 houses are at different stages of construction and further the procurement of 17,000 other units is at the tail end.
“It is our intention to make sure that many of our policemen and women, who discharge a very sensitive responsibility of protecting all of us, work in conditions that help them discharge that responsibility,” said President Ruto.
President Ruto said Kenyans serving in the security sector will also benefit from the government’s Affordable Housing Programme.
The construction of new housing units is part of the government’s plan to modernise the National Police Service at a cost of KSh 28 billion over the next two years.
