Kenyan businessman Kennedy Rapudo has stepped into the limelight to defend his partner, socialite and influencer Amber Ray, after she faced criticism over her club hosting gigs and bold fashion.
Speaking in an interview with Alex Mwakideu, Rapudo dismissed the critics as uniformed and unfair regarding the legitimacy of Amber’s career in the entertainment industry.
In his remarks, Rapudo stated Amber’s success was established before their relationship began. “I’m not here to change her; that’s her job for the longest time,” he said.
He said that her work as a club host is both professional and lucrative. Rapudo described as a club host involves brand promotion, guest engagement and maintaining a strong public presence, which has earned her millions of shillings and placed her in the limelight.
The criticism sparked online debate after Amber’s recent outfit at a club event; with some claiming it resembled “bedroom wear.” Rapudo brushed off the criticism, saying, “As long she behaves well, I will support her choices.”
Kenyan female celebrities are judged differently compared to International ones, noting that abroad they are celebrated while locally they are condemned.
He revealed Amber’s hosting career does not collide with her family time and he takes full responsibility to bond with his family, emphasing he pays for his all four children’s including stepson school fees and doesn’t believe in treating children unequally.
The interview has sparked mixed reactions on the internet, with some praising Rapudo’s support while others questioned Amber’s career path.
Amber Ray’s criticism is nothing new to her, along with her fashion and clubbing, as this is part of her career, while Rapudo says he will support her as long as she doesn’t do anything wrong to him.
