American rapper and entrepreneur Snoop Dogg has become a co-owner and investor in Swansea City, taking a minority stake in the English Championship club.

The 53-year-old music icon has joined the club’s ownership group, following in the footsteps of Real Madrid and Croatia legend Luka Modrić, who also recently became a stakeholder.

Modrić, who this week signed with AC Milan, acquired his share after a takeover led by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November last year.

Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, expressed his excitement about the new venture on the club’s official website.

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” he said.

“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club — an underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

His involvement is believed to have come through a personal connection with Cravatt and Cohen.

Snoop’s investment marks another bold chapter in the Welsh club’s evolution, as they continue to attract global attention both on and off the pitch.
