Raila Odinga’s campaign secretariat for the African Union Commission’s (AUC) chairmanship is reportedly grappling with a cash crunch.
President William Ruto’s administration had committed itself to funding Raila’s campaign, but questions have emerged whether it has allocated funds for the campaigns and whether it has the goodwill to help him succeed.
With the current cash crisis, the ODM leader might face challenges in meeting campaign expenses such as travel, organising meetings and negotiating with African ambassadors and presidents while selling his agenda.
It is reported that members of Raila’s AUC campaign secretariat are unmotivated due to delays in their monthly payments.
The operatives in the secretariat decry that they are being neglected.
It has since emerged that some of the secretariat members were left out of the Addis Ababa vision launch on Friday, November 8 due to uncoordinated plans to facilitate their travel.
