First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto has always been passionate about sustainable school feeding in the country.

Having initially been a teacher, Mama Rachel vowed to do anything within her power to ensure hunger does not impede the education of children.

On Monday, February 17, the First Lady met Joyce Kithure, the spouse of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and their discussions focused on promoting sustainable school feeding in Kenya through food production on school grounds.

This, Mama Rachel said, will support President William Ruto’s government’s policy of 100% enrolment and retention.

“As teachers, we know firsthand the power of education and the importance of ensuring that every child in our country has equal access to quality learning as a tool for transformation and development,” said Mama Rachel.

Later, the duo visited the kitchen gardens at State House, Nairobi.
