Mary Muthoni has been recognised for her contributions to the health sector after receiving the Public Health Personality Award during the 2026 Instinct Women Awards held in Nairobi.
As the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Muthoni has been recognised for supporting the move towards enhancing primary healthcare services, as well as preventive health services within the country.
The award brought together women achievers across different fields, who came together to celebrate their contributions and recognition within their respective fields.
While receiving the award, Muthoni stated that she felt greatly honoured and appreciated the recognition, which, she noted, was also for many of her colleagues who she has worked with within the health sector.
“I accept this award with gratitude and humility,” Muthoni stated.
Muthoni noted that the award is for health professionals, policymakers, health workers, and health promoters who continually strive to improve health services within communities across the country. Their continued commitment and dedication, she noted, is what gives her the motivation for her work within the public health sector.
The recognition comes at a time when the government is working towards enhancing primary healthcare services within the country, as well as preventive health services within the health sector.
