Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested the main suspect in the murder of Faith Kemunto, a young woman who was set to join Machakos University before her disappearance and tragic death in July 2025.
According to investigators, Faith had travelled from Nairobi to her family home on July 2 in preparation for her university admission.
On the day she went missing, she had left home to meet her boyfriend, Gidion Angisa but she never returned.
Her sudden disappearance led her family to file a missing person’s report at Nyamuri Police Station. Despite initial search efforts, both Faith and Gidion could not be traced.
Further investigations revealed that Gidion had gone into hiding in Nairobi’s Huruma estate. DCI detectives eventually tracked him down and arrested him.
At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of Faith’s mobile phone.
He was transported to Nyamira County, where he is currently being held at Ekerenyo Police Station.
A body believed to be Faith’s was later discovered buried in a shallow roadside grave. The remains were exhumed following a court order issued by the Nyamira Law Courts.
Detectives have been granted a 21-day custodial order to allow for further investigations.
The case is being handled by homicide detectives, forensic specialists from the DCI’s National Forensic Laboratory, and officers stationed in Nyamira.
