Ruto Nominates Kepha Nyamweya as NCIC Chair

President William Ruto has nominated Bishop Kepha Nyamweya Omae to serve as the next chairperson of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), with the appointment now awaiting parliamentary approval.

The nomination was announced by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, who said the selection followed recommendations from a panel mandated to identify suitable candidates. He noted the process was part of a structured recruitment drive aimed at strengthening the commission ahead of a politically sensitive period.

Nyamweya, a bishop and senior pastor, is among several nominees picked to reconstitute the commission. The president also proposed seven commissioners, including Josphine Kirion Eragae, Joseph Nguyo, Jackson Swadi Kedogo and Samuel Mwachiro Mwawasi.

Others named are Irene Chepoisho Tulel, Hassan Billow Ahmed and Jerusah Mwaathime Michael. The team is expected to guide the commission’s work as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.

Koskei said the National Assembly has already received the names for vetting, urging lawmakers to prioritise the process given the NCIC commission’s role in promoting national unity and addressing hate speech.
