President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to aligning national and county government priorities to accelerate Kenya’s development agenda.

Speaking at State House in Nairobi during a consultative meeting with Central Kenya governors, Cabinet Secretaries, and Principal Secretaries from the region, the President emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to address the needs of Kenyans and drive inclusive growth.“We are aligning national and county governments’ priorities to accelerate our development agenda, effectively address the needs of our people, and drive inclusive growth,” President Ruto stated.

The meeting comes ahead of the President’s much-anticipated tour of the Mount Kenya region, set to begin in a week.

Among the leaders present were Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and governors Cecily Mbarire (Embu), Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Kimani Wamatangi (Kiambu), Joshua Irungu (Laikipia), Muthomi Njuki (Tharaka Nithi), Irungu Kang’ata (Murang’a), Kiarie Badilisha (Nyandarua), and Isaac Mutuma (Meru).

Also in attendance were key Cabinet Secretaries, including Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe, Information, Communications & Digital Economy CS William Kabogo Gitau, Lands CS Alice Wahome, and Tourism CS Rebecca Miano. Principal Secretary for Public Health, Mary Muthoni, was among other senior government officials present.

The meeting discussed key programs and projects aimed at transforming the socio-economic landscape of the Mount Kenya region. The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that national and county governments work in synergy to fast-track development initiatives.

The discussions are expected to shape policy directions ahead of the President’s tour, where he is likely to engage local leaders and residents on pressing regional issues.
