total power connectivity and infrastructure development throughout Nakuru County.

While inaugurating the Last Mile Connectivity Programme in Nakuru, President Ruto said that power extension to over 22,000 households would warrant a government expenditure of Sh2.6 billion. He stated that the main goal of the project is to offer electricity to homes and businesses that are currently deprived of this essential service consequent with which, new opportunities for growth will be opened and people’s lives will be made better.

“Electricity should not be seen as a privilege but rather a right that is a driver of development. We are determined to ensure every Kenyan household is connected to power,” the President assured the public.

Besides, the President on his walk around the county, revealed several projects that are aimed at uplifting the local people and regional development. It comprises not only the building of fresh markets but also the introduction of the Affordable Housing Programme in Lanet, which is predicted to provide close to 2,000 jobs for the youth, especially plumbers and construction workers.

The Affordable Housing program will see the construction of 2,500 housing units in Nakuru County with 2,000 homes to be built in Elburgon, thereby increasing the supply of decent and affordable homes to the low- and middle-income earners.

Moreover, President Ruto has informed the public that the phased expansion of the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit Highway to a six-lane expressway will, in fact, be ceremonially kicked off next month.
