Learned President William Ruto has officially enrolled for a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Open University of Kenya (OUK).
The head of state made the announcement on Monday, October 13, during his visit to Konza Technopolis, where he launched the first phase of the smart city’s infrastructure.
President Ruto acknowledged that AI is very disruptive as it is going to change how people operate businesses, including the running of the government.
Being a new ecosystem, the president said the lessons will help him understand it better and challenged other leaders to follow suit.
"I have enrolled myself as a student of AI at Open University because I want to understand it. AI is very disruptive. It is going to change the way we do business, the way we run government and it is my proposal that, AI being a new ecosystem, those of us who are leaders must not be left behind. I want to encourage more leaders to find some time to take some lessons to understand what AI is all about," said President Ruto.
