The National Police Service (NPS) has intensified intelligence-led operations targeting drug trafficking and illegal brewing networks in Machakos and Embu counties, while government agencies are making a concerted effort to disrupt criminal activities.
A group of police officers and representatives of other national agencies conducted a house search at Shauri Area, Embu County, after receiving a tip-off. As a result, 3 450 cannabis rolls, nine boxes of packaging materials and 200 envelopes used in packing narcotics were found inside the house, which was raided.
The police have confirmed that the seized items will be held as evidence until the investigations end. They further stated the suspect got away once he noticed police officers and the agencies are currently tracking down leads to know his whereabouts and ultimately capture him.
Meanwhile, officers from Kibaoni Police Patrol Base in Machakos, working alongside National Government Administration Officers, arrested a suspected drug trafficker during a separate operation.
The suspect was allegedly found in possession of one kilogramme of processed cannabis sativa, half a kilogramme of unprocessed cannabis sativa, 600 rolling papers and a rolling tray.
The NPS revealed that through running their operations, they’re showing their readiness to destroy the criminal networks and to make changes in the drug market, which is illegal.
Authorities have urged members of the public to provide timely information to security agencies to support efforts to combat drug-related crime and enhance community safety.
