Kenya Police FC is set to face Egyptian giants Zamalek in the Confederation Cup second-round knockout stage this Saturday at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
While Police are making their continental debut first appearance, Zamalek who are the defending champions will be chasing their third title.
The Police beat Ethiopian Coffee 1-0 last month to move to the next stage.
The team is at the moment without six key players who are out of the country playing for Harambee Stars and South Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications.
Defender Charles Ouma, Aboud Omar, Alfred Leku, custodian Patrick Matasi and midfielder Kenneth Muguna who have been away with Harambee Stars and Rashid Toha playing for South Sudan were expected back in the country yesterday evening.
Head coach Antony “Modo” Kimani hopes they will be available for training today and tomorrow ahead of the much-awaited knockout fixture.
Muguna is serving a four-match ban slapped on him alongside other Gor Mahia players after they roughed up match referee during the match against Napsa Stars of Zambia.
Midfielder David ‘Messi’ Owino and defender Brian Musa are recovering from knee and ankle injuries respectively.
