Pan Africa Christian University has joined the global campaign observing 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, expressing deep concern over the rising cases of femicide and violence in Kenya.

In a passionate statement, the university called these acts “barbaric crimes” that threaten the dignity and safety of women.

The institution emphasized its commitment to promoting education and awareness to address the root causes of femicide, which include unchecked aggression, gender-based discrimination, and cycles of violence.

“Our psychology faculty highlights the importance of fostering emotional intelligence, guiding healthy relationships, and seeking mental mental health support,” said Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dionysious Kiambi.

“We are committed to value-based education to develop transformative leaders who respect human dignity.”Responding to reports of protesters being tear-gassed while advocating for gender equality, the university condemned the use of force, stating, “Peaceful demonstrations are a constitutional right. Any interference with this right is misguided and undermines efforts to end gender-based violence.”

The university also addressed claims that empowering the girl child has led to the neglect of boys, resulting in psychological instability and contributing to gender-based violence.

While acknowledging this as a potential factor, it emphasized the need for research to uncover the root causes and solutions.

As part of its mission, the university is preparing students in counseling psychology to engage communities, raise awareness, and address societal challenges.

Despite financial constraints, it plans to partner with organizations to expand its research and outreach on gender-based violence and femicide.

Pan Africa Christian University’s stand serves as a rallying call for collective action, urging all stakeholders to work toward a society free from fear and harm.
