More than 80 Kiambu County Assembly Members (MCAs) have sidelined and publicly called on Governor Kimani Wamatangi, making a pledge to protect him from any attempts to get him impeached.
Besides denying the rumor of the tabling of a motion of no confidence against the governor in the Assembly, the MCAs have stated that no such move is on the cards at the moment.
Nevertheless, they have labeled a group of elected leaders from Kiambu County in the National Assembly as the ones secretly holding midnight meetings with some MCAs with the sole purpose of spearheading the impeachment of the Governor.
It has been reported that Governor Wamatangi has lately been caught up in a series of screaming events that a court order had led to the freezing of his accounts, the alleged removal of his security detail, and the demolition of his business premises in Nairobi.
In a communique to the press, the MCAs have come out saying that the governor’s rights have been violated on the pretext of politics and have accused the government of either directly or indirectly violating the governors rights by subjecting him to state harassment.
They reiterated the call for the immediate return of Governor Wamatangis security squad and raised their voice against the continuation of intimidation that is aimed at destabilizing the county administration.
MCAs have expressed their loyalty in making sure that Kiambu County remains stable, warning against what they termed as external interference in county affairs, and urged leaders to respect due process and the rule of law as investigations continue.
