Kenyans have voiced outrage after a CCTV video went viral showing armed police officers assaulting young men who were playing pool in Nandi Hills town, prompting leaders to call for swift action against those responsible.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino condemned the incident, terming it a gross abuse of human rights. The leaders said the youths were subjected to violence despite having committed no offence.

The CCTV footage, recorded on the night of Sunday, January 10 at around 11:51pm, shows at least 10 police officers from Nandi Hills Police Station storming a pool hall armed with firearms and batons. The officers are seen confronting and assaulting the young men who were inside playing pool.
