Nairobi Senator, Edwin Sifuna at ODM's Linda Mwananchi Rally in Nairobi

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has launched a sharp attack on President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of continuously implementing policies that increase suffering among Kenyans.

In a strongly worded statement shared online, Sifuna claimed the Kenya Kwanza government wakes up daily “to conjure up more ways to cause pain to Kenyans.”

“The Ruto government is just too much. These guys wake up every single day just to conjure up more ways to cause pain to Kenyans,” Sifuna said.

The Nairobi Senator further argued that the scale of issues affecting the country had made it difficult for the opposition to effectively keep the government accountable.

“I know we are expected to keep government in check as opposition but it’s literally impossible to keep up with the breadth and depth of the capacity for evil these guys have,” he added.

Sifuna’s remarks come amid growing public frustration over the rising cost of living, high taxation and economic pressures facing households across the country.

The ODM Secretary General also criticized the government’s foreign engagements, referencing Kenya’s involvement in the Haiti security mission and recent concerns surrounding regional health matters.

“When we tell you just kicking Ruto out solves 80 percent of our problems you best believe. Just like he did with Haiti and now Ebola, for the right amount, this one can sell us to the devil himself,” Sifuna stated.
