The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a public notice urging all motor vehicle and motorcycle owners to update their vehicle duty status and records as part of an ongoing compliance and data verification exercise.
The Authority said the update, which targets individuals, financial institutions, government agencies, insurance companies, and motor dealers, is aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring accuracy in its registration and inspection records.
Under the provisions of the NTSA Act, 2012, the Authority is mandated to oversee vehicle registration, licensing, and inspection. As part of this mandate, NTSA has activated an online vehicle records update tool to streamline the process.
To facilitate the update, the following documents must be submitted:
- A formal request letter for the duty or records update, including the owner’s phone number and email address.
- A stamped copy of the letter as proof of submission.
- A copy of the vehicle owner’s ID.
- The original logbook.
- KRA entry document.
- Proof of duty payment receipt.
Motorists have been advised to visit www.ntsa.go.ke for a comprehensive guide on where and how to submit documents, applicable processing charges, and how to collect processed documents.
The site also provides details on applying for duplicate logbooks (Certificates of Ownership).
