The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has officially resumed the issuance of motor vehicle number plates, bringing relief to thousands of vehicle owners and dealers across the country who had been affected by a prolonged shortage.

NTSA Board Chairperson Khatib Mwashetani confirmed the development, stating that the Authority had begun receiving fresh deliveries of number plates, and distribution to applicants is currently underway.

“Clients who have received a text message to collect the plates they had applied for are urged to pick them up at the NTSA offices where they submitted their applications,” Mwashetani said during an inspection of the newly delivered stock.

The Authority had faced supply chain challenges in recent months, leading to a backlog in vehicle registrations and delays for motorists. However, NTSA Director General George Njao reassured the public that the issues have now been fully resolved.

“We have addressed all logistical hurdles, and we are working to ensure smooth and efficient processing going forward,” said Njao.
