Embu woman representative Njoki Njeru has been confirmed to be the owner of the vehicle involved in the tragic road accident in Embu County and not a presidential escort car, as widely speculated on social media.
A statement issued on Sunday afternoon clarified that no vehicle belonging to President William Ruto’s escort had been involved in an accident.
The accident left several people dead, including a boda boda rider and his passenger, with several others sustaining injuries.
Other vehicles involved in the accident belong to the Embu Deputy Governor and current NSSF Board Chair, David Kariuki.
Angry boda boda riders, in turn, torched Njeru’s vehicle following the death of their colleague.
