The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness issued a stern statement correcting record books after going all out with online rumors that the world was to cease existing on August 2, 2025. In its formal statement issued on August 1, 2025, the church administration led by Senior Archbishop Michael Nieswand discredited the allegations as “false, baseless, malicious, and with the aim of causing harm.”

The viral news making the rounds on most social media sites alleged that the Prophet Dr. David Owuor had foretold the apocalypse. The church, however, clarified that Dr. Owuor has always stood firm that “Nobody knows the Day or the Hour when the Messiah will return,” citing Matthew 24:36 to define their stand.

“These false reports not only tarnish the image of the church and Prophet Dr. Owuor but also lead to division and disruption of our congregation’s testimony,” the statement went on.

The Ministry also referenced earlier public clarifications made on July 13, 2025, and subsequent follow-up reports on KBC News and Radio 47. The links to the broadcasts were also included, calling on the public to check facts before sharing online.

Reaching out to media organizations, bloggers, and social media, the Ministry called upon the public to refrain from sharing unverified reports and be “zealous in prayer, discernment, and unity.”

As conjecture has gone on fuelling arguments on the internet, this press release comes as a timely reminder to exercise caution when it comes to fake news, especially on issues that are sensitive in nature like religion and global events.
