Kenya’s award-winning singer Njerae has teamed up with Haitian-Congolese heavyweight Paska on a smooth rhythm led record rooted in Konpa and contemporary sounds of East African R&B.
The song “No More Drama,” is about finding your way back to love. Paska brings warmth and movement of Konpa, while Njerae provides a voice with a softer, intimate edge, as together they will create a sound that feels soulful and natural.
Njerae described the collaboration as seamless and patient.
“Collaborating with Paska has been so seamless and I appreciated how patient and detailed he was creating the record together,” Njerae said.
For Paska, music has always been a way of bringing the different parts of his identity together.
“I think music has always been my way of creating a home between different parts of who I am…so bringing them together feels very natural to me,” Paska said.
The collaboration adds another layer of ideas, with Paska stating their chemistry came from recognizing something familiar in each other’s music.
“I brought my Haitian and Congolese influences; she brought her Kenyan perspective and somehow the two worlds just fit.”
Paska’s relationship with East African artist has developed naturally through the music. The song is set to be released on September 25.
