The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), an international organization specializing in peace and conflict management, to launch Trans-generational Conversations Town Hall Sessions.

Set to begin in April, the initiative aims to foster dialogue between different generations, particularly the Gen Z demographic and older generations. The program is designed to bridge intergenerational gaps, enhance social cohesion, and build trust between young people and the government.

According to NCIC, the decision to implement the campaign was influenced by the Gen Z-led protests on June 24, 2024, which highlighted deep generational divisions in the country. Through the town hall sessions, young people will have a platform to voice their concerns, engage in meaningful discussions with older generations, and work towards a shared understanding on national issues.

The initiative will be rolled out in 17 counties, focusing on addressing the erosion of Kenya’s social fabric. NCIC believes that fostering open dialogue between generations will contribute to political decency, accountability, and long-term peace.

NCIC and IEP are optimistic that this partnership will help mitigate generational tensions and create a more inclusive society where all voices are heard and valued.
