Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has strongly condemned the killing spree that took place in Tseikuru, Kitui County, that left a number of people dead, vowing that the government will do everything possible to bring the conflict surrounding the Kitui Game Reserve to an end.

While delivering his message during a church service at AIC Sogeon in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, Murkomen remarked that the government is resolutely seeking to bring about peace and usher an end to insecurity, which has been a result of the conflict around Kitui Game Reserve for years. 

According to the CS, the Kitui-Tana River and Kitui-Garissa borders have been scenes of violence for long as the communities have been clashing to fight for the scarce resources and grazing areas. 

“Our main challenge is the area around the Kitui Game Reserve especially the KituiTana River and KituiGarissa borders. We have sent security personnel to that area to restore peace, ” Murkomen remarked. 

He insisted on the fact that the cycle of violence ought to be broken. Besides, he said the government is committed to bringing the conflict to a halt and, at the same time, being the protecting factor for the residents. 

Besides that, he cautioned the leaders and other people on their roles in escalating tensions by calling on revenge attacks, saying that the government can’t stand incitement and lawlessness in the region any longer.
