Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring all gazetted administrative units are fully operational to enhance service delivery to wananchi.Speaking at Kanyakine Vocational Training Center grounds in Meru County, Murkomen presided over the official launch of Abogeta Sub-County, the opening of the sub-county headquarters, and the installation of the first Deputy County Commissioner.

The CS assured residents that more personnel would be deployed to ensure all government departments in the newly established sub-county function efficiently. Additionally, he announced plans to upgrade the Kionyo-Kanyakine-Mitunguu road to improve connectivity within Abogeta Sub-County.”As part of our commitment to devolution, we are ensuring that all sub-counties are well-equipped and linked to their headquarters to enable residents to access services without unnecessary delays,” said Murkomen.

In addition, he confirmed that the long-overdue operationalization of Igoki Division will take place in the coming weeks, with an Assistant County Commissioner set to be deployed soon.

Murkomen was accompanied by several leaders, including Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi and Members of Parliament Elizabeth Kailemia (Meru County Woman Rep), Dr. Shadrack Mwiti (South Imenti), Mugambi Rindikiri (Buuri), Kirima Nguchine (Central Imenti), Julius Taitumu (Igembe North), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Paul Biego (Chesumei), Joseph Makilap (Baringo North), Duncan Mathenge (Nyeri Town), and nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni.Other dignitaries included former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, Principal Secretaries Gitonga Mugambi (Forestry) and Dr. Salome Beacco (Correctional Services), Meru County Deputy Governor Rev. Isaac M’Ethingia, Eastern Regional Commissioner Paul Rotich, local MCAs, and various administrators.The launch marks a major step in improving governance and accessibility to government services in Meru County.
