Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, describing him as a leader whose influence shaped Kenya’s political, business and social landscape for decades.

In a condolence message, Mudavadi said Jirongo’s passing marked the loss of a witty, warm hearted and approachable leader who connected easily with people from all walks of life.

“He was never dismissive and always made time to listen,” Mudavadi said, noting that Jirongo carried himself with simplicity that made him widely respected and relatable.

Mudavadi recalled Jirongo’s rise to national prominence in the early 1990s when, at a young age, he played a key role in steering the Youth for KANU 92 movement during President Daniel arap Moi’s re election campaign in the early multiparty era.

He said Jirongo’s agility, courage and boldness defined his entry into politics and cemented his place in Kenya’s political history.

Beyond politics, Mudavadi noted that Jirongo distinguished himself as a visionary entrepreneur, particularly in the real estate sector, where his developments in Hazina Estate, South B and Saika Estate in Kayole remain a lasting legacy.

“These projects reflected his ambition to reshape urban living through housing, amenities and community growth,” Mudavadi said.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary conveyed his condolences to Jirongo’s family and prayed for strength, peace and comfort during what he described as a sudden and painful moment.
