Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has commended Huawei for its 25-year contribution to Kenya’s ICT sector and its alignment with the government’s Digital Superhighway agenda.
Mudavadi spoke during a meeting with Huawei’s Deputy CEO Steven Zhang, where he received the company’s LEAP Report, which outlines their progress in digital skills development.
“The LEAP program aligns seamlessly with the government’s Digital Superhighway agenda, empowering our youth with essential digital skills to thrive in ICT careers. This is a transformative initiative, and we encourage Huawei to amplify their efforts,” Mudavadi said.
The LEAP program, which stands for Leadership, Employability, Advancement, and Progress, is part of Huawei’s strategy to equip young Kenyans with technical expertise and position them for opportunities in the fast-evolving ICT sector.

Mudavadi praised Huawei’s partnership with Kenya, noting the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by President William Ruto during his Beijing visit in October last year.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster technology-driven growth and create employment opportunities for the youth.
“The government will continue to champion and support such programs that equip Kenyans with the tools to compete on the global stage,” Mudavadi added.

Eng. Maureen Mwaniki, Huawei Kenya’s Director of Public Affairs, was also present, emphasizing the company’s dedication to fostering innovation and bridging the digital skills gap in Kenya.

Huawei’s partnership with Kenya highlights a shared vision for a digitally empowered future, with the LEAP program standing out as a cornerstone of this collaboration.
