Residents of Morendat Ward in Gilgil Constituency, Nakuru, have staged protests over poor road networks and lack of electricity, saying the challenges have negatively affected farming and business activities in the area.
During a peaceful demonstration in Kanduma village, they accused leaders of neglecting the area despite supporting them during elections.
The residents, with majority being farmers said the poor state of roads has made it difficult to transport farm produce to markets, leading to losses and reduced income.
According to farmers, without reliable transport, selling goods becomes a gamble. Life runs on kerosene lamps now, hours lost waiting for repairs that don’t come.
They also claimed bumpy roads block their way to market, so crops sit unsold while money slips away. Battered paths slow every trip, making fresh goods arrive late or rot before they leave town. Without steady power, shops run slower here.
The aggrieved residents are now calling on both the national and county governments to address the challenges and improve infrastructure in the area.Write a news article with a heading from above
