The Ministry of Defence (MoD) implored the Parliament committee to support their budget proposals as they emphasized the critical role of adequate resourcing in enabling the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to effectively safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
While appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations at Parliament Buildings to present the Ministry’s Budget Estimates for the next fiscal year, Defence Principal Secretary, Dr. Patrick Mariru outlined key policy priorities, ongoing projects, and flagship programmes currently under implementation.

The PS was accompanied by Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF) Lt. Gen. John Omenda buttressed the Ministry’s submissions, saying that sustained investment in modernization, capability enhancement, and force readiness remains indispensable to maintaining KDF’s operational effectiveness and long-term strategic preparedness.
