The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been recognized as one of Kenya’s top-performing public institutions after securing four major national awards for excellence in financial reporting, accountability, and public sector leadership.
At the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards, the Ministry emerged as the overall winner in the Public Sector Category and the top performer among all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs)—a clear endorsement of its commitment to financial reporting standards, transparency, and sound governance.
In addition, the MoD received two honours from the Office of the Head of Public Service: the Unmodified Audit Opinion Award and the Leadership in Driving the Public Service Transformation Agenda 2025.
These accolades reflect the Ministry’s strong audit record and its pivotal role in advancing national and county-level development programmes under the Government’s broader transformation agenda.
The awards were formally presented to Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya during a ceremony held today at Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
The presentation was conducted by Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru, in the presence of senior officials and Heads of Departments.
CS Tuya applauded the achievement, crediting it to the professionalism and discipline that guide the Ministry’s work.
PS Mariru also praised staff across the Ministry for their collective dedication to maintaining robust governance systems.
