Kenyan Content Creator Azziad Nasenya

Kenyan content creator and media personality Azziad Nasenya has broken a new ground after being unveiled as Maybelline New York’s first Digital Spokesperson for Sub- Saharan Africa.

The announcement made on April 27, on social media with a clip from the launch positioned the milestone as both personal achievement and a significant cultural shift.

“This is history… I’ve officially been introduced as Maybelline New York’s Digital Spokesperson for Sub-Saharan Africa, and what makes so surreal is that it has never been done before, not in Kenya , not in East Africa,” she said.

Azziad, who became famous during the TikTok challenge “Utawezana” dance video, has evolved into one of Kenya’s influential digital voices.

As Maybelline’s digital in Africa, Azziad will spearhead campaigns that blend beauty, lifestyle and digital storytelling. The partnership shows how global brand is increasingly recognizing the reach and authenticity of African creators.

She now joins the list of Kenyan figures who have fronted international beauty brands, including Lupita Nyong’o, who served as global ambassador for Lancôme, model Malaika Firth, who served as ambassador for the fragrance Dream and digital Elsa Majimbo who collaborated with Fenty Beauty.

Her unveiling comes when Kenya’s digital economy is thriving with influencers swaying swiftly across social media platforms. This isn’t the first time New York-based beauty brand has worked with African ambassador.
