Mathare United has announced a two-week suspension for four players who took part in an unsanctioned friendly match last week, shortly before their recent loss to Kenya Police FC, where they fell 2-0.
The suspended players are left-back Erickson Mulu and midfielders Kevin Kimani, Elli Asieche, and Brian Ouru. Notably, both Asieche and Kimani serve as club captains.
The match involved non-league teams A Mosquito FC and Team Zied, ending in a thrilling 5-5 draw.
As part of their suspension, the four Mathare United players will be barred from all club activities and will not receive pay during this period due to contract violations.
As a result of their suspension, the players will miss upcoming matches against KCB and Posta Rangers, with a potential return for the game against Nairobi City Stars.
