Police have launched a manhunt for a man suspected of brutally killing his ex-wife in what is believed to be an act of revenge after she moved on with another man.
The victim, a 32-year-old woman, was found dead outside her current boyfriend’s rented house in the Saos area on Monday night. Area Chief Judith Chebon reported the incident after discovering the lifeless body, which bore deep head wounds, indicating a violent attack.
Witnesses recall seeing the woman heading toward her boyfriend’s house shortly after 8 p.m. However, just an hour later, her blood-soaked body was found in the compound, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Koibatek have identified the prime suspect as Alex Kimeli Ng’elel, the woman’s ex-husband, who has since gone into hiding. Authorities believe he attacked his former spouse in a fit of rage over her new relationship.
“The suspect fled immediately after the crime, but we are pursuing leads to bring him to justice,” an officer involved in the investigations stated.
Police have urged members of the public to provide any information that could help locate Ng’elel, warning that he may be dangerous. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been moved to Eldama Ravine Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Residents have condemned the act, calling for swift justice and more efforts to curb rising cases of gender-based violence in the region.
