A man identified as Nelson Ambai has been arrested following the killing his girlfriend at their home in Sunton, Kasarani, Nairobi County.
The suspect is said to have killed his 21-year-old girlfriend Feruz Hussein and sending a disturbing video of her body to her family telling her to rest in peace and blaming the mother of Feruz.
According to police reports, Ambai allegedly murdered Feruz in a unclear circumstance that remain under investigations. He had also assaulted Feruz and her family members, including her mother, siblings and in-laws.
Feruz’s family reported the incident to the police and told authorities that Ambia had also allegedly threatened to harm her two teenage siblings. They also reached out to Sonko’s office, seeking help to speed up the investigations.
Police have confirmed that the suspect will face charges once investigations are complete, with prosecutors expected to pursue a strong case of evidence.
The incident has ignited widespread condemnation across social media, some expressing anger and calling for tough measures against gender-based violence and calling for justice to the victim.
