A young man has been charged after allegedly sending Migori woman representative Fatuma Zainab Mohammed obscene and insulting text messages.

Appearing before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi, Vincent Otieno was accused of telling Zainab she was getting old and should get a man to marry her in Dholuo language.

The message is translated as “You are growing old, you should get a man to marry you,” a message Zainab deemed offensive and intended to taint her character.

The court heard that the accused went on to post the same message on a Facebook page known as Migori Republican Council (MRC).

However, Otieno denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of KSh 50,000 or a bond of KSh 100,000.
