Motorists in Nairobi are being advised to plan ahead, as several major roads will be closed on Thursday, August 7, to facilitate the Africa Championship (CHAN) tournament.
According to a traffic alert issued by authorities, Aerodrome Road between Madaraka Roundabout and Bunyala Roundabout will be completely closed.
One side of Lang’ata Road, from Madaraka to Lusaka Roundabout, and a section of Mombasa Road, from Lusaka to Bunyala Roundabout, will also be out of use.
To help decongest, diversions have been redirected.
Coming into town through Mombasa Road? You’re instructed to divert through Likoni-Enterprise Road at General Motors, or drive through the Southern Bypass through Ole Sereni.
Those coming in from Lang’ata Road to use Raila Odinga Road or Muhoho Road via the Mbagathi Roundabout.
Drivers coming from the CBD to Thika, Juja, or Ruiru should should use Kiambu Road or Limuru Road in order to avoid traffic congestion.
Public service vehicles with passengers heading to Kasarani Stadium are advised to use Ruaraka Baba Dogo Road and connect through Ngomongo Road, and proceed to Ngomongo Roundabout.
Car drivers on Thika Road going to town can use the Eastern Bypass, or use Kiambu or Limuru Road as safer alternatives.
One final warning: if you are not heading to Kasarani, don’t take Thika Road.
