KWS Cuts Entry Fees for Students Visiting National Parks

Schools planning educational trips to some of Kenya’s national parks and reserves will pay lower entry fees under a new offer announced by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).

The discounts, which apply to schools and students from nursery level to universities, will see entry fees reduced by up to 33 per cent at selected wildlife destinations.

Students visiting Amboseli and Lake Nakuru National Parks will pay KSh500, down from KSh750.

The fee for Nairobi National Park, Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks has also been reduced from KSh500 to KSh400.

At Hell’s Gate, Mount Longonot, Mount Elgon, Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park, Lake Elementaita Wildlife Sanctuary, Shimba Hills and Kakamega National Reserve, students will pay KSh200 instead of KSh250.

KWS announced the reduced rates on Wednesday, September 16, encouraging teachers to use the offer when planning educational trips.

“Teachers!! You’ve been planning educational trips since the first term, surely! The kids want to see wildlife. We have offers!” KWS said.

The agency said children below six years will be allowed into the parks for free under the offer.

The reduced rates are available to learners from nursery schools through tertiary institutions, including university students.

KWS said the offer will run until November 30, 2026, giving schools more than two months to organise their visits.

The initiative will allow learners to visit some of the country’s major wildlife and conservation sites at lower rates during the promotional period.

Schools experiencing challenges while accessing the service have been advised to contact KWS through its toll-free number 0800 597 000 or the agency’s customer service email.
